This week the girls have fall break from school, but Nathan NEVER gets a fall break from work, so I decided to take the girls up the Sacramento area to visit their Nannie, and Papa, and Aunt Hillary and cousins (Nathan's parents and sister). We had such a nice trip. It was a five hour car ride but the girls did great! No complaining, except for the last hour on the way home for Lucy. While we were there we went to this great place in Placerville called Apple Hill. It is 10 scenic miles of Apple farms that you can visit, go apple picking, pumpkin picking and get fun crafts and eat delicious food, including the best fresh apple donuts! This should be an annual fall trip, but I just don't know if I can plan a drive like that again right now...check back with me in a year.

Our Fun-Filled Family Day in SB

I know that Labor Day is meant to be a day off of Laboring, and that after looking at the pictures of our family in being "touristy" in Santa Barbara it looks like a lot of Labor. But honestly it was one of the most relaxing enjoyable days we have had as a family in a long time. No phone calls, no interruptions (although we did run into a few of Nathan's work acquaintances, and the Voges)it was just nice to be together, and enjoy our day at our own pace (especially with daddy!)

Then we went to Chase Palm Park and rode on the Carousel I love this picture, because I think it shows such a resemblance between these two.

I lived in Santa Barbara for two years and I never rode on one of these, but they are FUN!

We even went to the pier to have dinner, and wrangled three hungry tired kids

As if that wasn't enough...the kids still had energy in them to play at the park (well the ice-cream could have had something to do with their energy...)

I love this picture so much because I think it shows both of their characters so well-Maddie goes head first into everything, and isn't afraid to try anything, and Claire is slow to warm and observes first, and still feels more comfortable on the outside.

It is impossible to get them all looking good at the same time, if you look really close Claire has cheese coming out of her mouth, lovely.

Mama's 5K

Today I ran in a 5k through Disneyland and California Adventure. I had a great time and came in with the first wave of runners which was my goal...I will now train for the 1/2 marathon next year which is really what all of the buzz is about at Disneyland this weekend, but the 5k was a good starting point. The other good thing is that the kids would like to go out next year for the kids races, so it is a fun annual family event.

We also spent Friday night at Disneyland, but sadly no photos this time!

Nathan and the girls were a little late to meet me at the finish line (guess he underestimated my speed :) So this picture is of me running to meet them.

So the girls are just loving school! Maddie started her new preschool on Monday and today when she got in the car she said, "Mommy, I know what today is...it's August!" And I said, "Oh, is it Tuesday?" And she said, "Oh, yes...that's it Tuesday!" How fun, she is learning! I love it!

Claire keeps asking me when she gets to go on the bus, and is practically begging me to let her ride the bus to school now. I just am not ready for that step yet, maybe next year, but I doubt it! It is the highlight of my day taking them and picking them up! I can't wait to work in their classrooms :)

So my friend Daleen sent me these two pics from our camping trip and I had to add them to our blog!

The first shows our family on a canoe! Yes, we took all the kids out on a canoe ride in Morro Bay. The girls loved it, the seals were so close we could touch them. Lucy was not too pleased about being in the canoe, so we had to cut our trip a bit short.

Here Maddie is holding the Hoskin's dog Maggie. Maddie loves dogs, and given the opportunity would spend ALL of her time with dogs. In fact I took Maddie to a birthday party once where she passed on cake, and ice cream just to spend more time with a dog! Uh oh, Nathan is in trouble, cuz he would really rather not have a pet, but look at how cute she is with the dog!

This past weekend we went camping with a bunch of friends in Morro Bay! What a great place to camp, I highly recommend it. There are all kinds of cool things to do during the day, we went hiking, shopping, kayaking, beaching, and explored the local area which included Cambria and San Luis Obispo. As far as camping is concerned we learned a lot about what to do next time, and what not to do next time...we'll get it down soon! What a fun trip!

Claire absolutely loves High School Musical! She loves them as much as she used to love the Princesses...(my baby is growing up!)

Today was a big day for us! First we went to the Circus! Then we went to a great lunch at a restaurant in Downtown called "Rodeo" then we went to Pioneer Day BBQ at Hart Park.

The Fusano's invited us to spend four days with them at their beach house with two other families, the Reese's and the Nelson's. We had a blast! We went to the beach three days in a row, and played hard all day! The house was in the Oxnard Harbor and there were boats there for us to use so we took boat rides. There were tons of kids, tons of food, and tons of fun in the sun! We were all tired when we got home, but it was worth it. Thanks Fusano's we had a blast!

We started our day at our church for a Pancake Breakfast and a beautiful Patriotic Slide Show!

After Breakfast we "beat the heat" and took the girls to see Kit Kittridge! (cute movie by the way!)

Then it was off to the Races for us! We went to a Nascar Race at the Irwindale Speedway! We had a great time with our friends, the Reese, Nelsons and Fusanos! Gorgeous fireworks show too!

Today was a great day! We woke up early with Grandma and Grandpa who slept over, and we decided to go out to breakfast at Coco's. Then we went to The Noah's Ark Exhibit at the Skirball Center. Then we went to my nephew Hayden's 5th Birthday Party (pictures to come), then we had company at our house for dinner (no pictures this time). It was a great busy day, and the NEXT day ALL the girls took a nap because of the busy day they had the day on Saturday!

This weekend daddy had a business seminar in Santa Barbara, so we thought it would be nice to get a hotel and bring my mom and dad with us so we could spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa while daddy was at his seminar, and of course so we had built in babysitters at night! We intended to go to the zoo, but it was so hot we decided to make a zoo trip next time, and this time we went to a great children's festival that only happens once a year at this gorgeous shaded park...perfect timing!

So we were grocery shopping today, and I hear this mom say, "look Emma, that little girl has the same hair as you" I turned around and low and behold she does! So I had to touch the little girls hair to be sure it is "exactly" the same! The mom and I couldn't believe it, because we thought there couldn't be two 3 year olds in the same town with the same hair, let alone in all the world...well we each asked each other's permission to take a picture of our daughters and put them on our blogs. Pretty neat eh?

Pre-Mother's Day Celebration and "So You Think You Can Dance"

So an old friend of Nathan's called and asked if Nathan would like to edit for a few weeks for the show "So You Think You Can Dance," and while that means he will be working from 7pm to 4am at the Studio in LA, it was a NO BRAINER, since we both love that show, and will surely be getting tickets. The store will be ok, we have good employees, but our schedule will be a little upside down for about a month, but we have definitely been there before!

So yesterday, our family got to go down to CBS Studios to see where daddy will be working and see our old friend Craig who will be Daddy's boss. "So You Think You Can Dance" is produced by the same company that does Idol, and both shows are in the same studio where they tape the Idol show. So we got to tour the stage. It was fun, and I am sure that on Tuesday Night Nathan will have some stories to tell me when he get's to work!

Senor y Senora Weinstein had a fun fiesta in celebration for Cinco De Mayo today. The kids had a blast playing with eachother, and the adults had a nice time visiting. Thank you Weinstein Family we always have a nice time at your get togethers!

Kindergarten Meet the Principal!

Our baby Claire is starting Kindergarten in the fall (well I should say summer since school starts August14), and we went to meet the principal last week. Claire was having such a great time touring the school, and felt like such a big girl! I now realize just how quickly these babies grow up...:( We are looking forward to next year, so exciting!

We went to the park to play with some friends and play soccer! Here are some of the pics...

Maddie with her water balloon-she loves all balloons! She gets a new balloon everyday at Daddy's work! Now that she has discovered water balloons, she is all about them. Guess we know what I will be doing all summer (filling water balloons?)

San Francisco and Mac World!

In January we took a trip to San Francisco for the Mac World Expo. While Daddy was at the Convention the girls and I cruised around "The City" as we called it!

The girls playing in the lobby of our Hotel. We stayed right in Union Square and could walk to everything. It was great!

Daddy was able to spend an entire day with us in the City and we went to Fisherman's Wharf and rode on the Cable Cars

We love San Francisco!

The weather was gorgeous so we took out our bikes and hit the local paseos, fed the ducks and played at the park (now that is what I call the perfect afternoon.

During Spring Break Adam (Nathan's Brother) and his family came down from Park City to get some California sun. So we went to Newport to join them, and then we hit Disneyland for a couple of days! Look at that gorgeous view.

Claire's Fifth Birthday Party!

So for Claire's 5th Birthday Party we thought it would be fun to have a "kids only" faux slumber party. The party was from 5-8pm and on the invit

e we told the parents to leave the kids and go on a date (I even took a couple younger sisters, so the parents co

uld really be free for the evening). Well, that left Nathan and I alone with 13 party-ready 5 and 3 year olds. Well the party was a blast for the girls and a

success overall...but Nathan and I did learn some valuable lessons.

1) We will never do that again :)

2) Parties should never be longer than 2 hours (unless parents are there too)

3) When you plan party activities that will take up time assume they will take up half the time you think they will take.

4)If you are going to do a party without the parents, a

sk a teenager to come and help!
